Overview Of Everest base camp, Gokyo Lake, and Cho La pass trek
Everest base camp, Gokyo lake and Cho La pass trekking is 16 days adventurous journey in Khumbu region. The trekking starts from Lukla after a thrilling flight either from Kathmandu or Ramechap. As soon as we land on the gateway of Everest, we will meet porters to share our bags. After enjoying breakfast in Lukla village, the trek starts towards Phakding.
Phakding is the first accommodation site of Everest trekking. It warms up trekking for three to four hours. The scenic beauty of Dudhkoshi, small villages, forest and fresh environment is great to enjoy during the trek.
Namche is the second day accommodation site during the trek to Gokyo Cho La pass via Everest base camp. The Namche Bazaar is the Himalayan Thamel where we can get normal to luxurious facility. The markets, clinics, restaurants, bar, museum and Everest view hotel are unique prospects that make Namche Bazaar facilitated town in Himalaya. Along with development, Sherpa culture and tradition reflects custom, tradition norms and values of Everest region. Namche viewpoint offers panoramic views of Mount Everest, Thamserkhu, Cholache, Lhotse, Nuptse and many more peaks. Similarly, Hiking to Khumjung village is the best practice for acclimatization during rest day in Namche.
Tengboche is the fourth day resting site offering the easiest trekking route. It is not a village but a small settlement for night stay to support tourism. The ancient Tengboche monastery overwhelmed with buddhism is great to explore.
Dingboche is the last village of Everest base camp trek route. The local Sherpas, terrace farming and small within small valley is amazing to explore. Nagarjuna peak hiking is the side trip from Dingboche that is very supportive for acclimatization. Gradual rise in elevation will increase the chance of altitude sickness unless we rest in this village.
Lobuche is high-altitude settlement situated at 4940 m. It is an amazing place surrounded by Himalaya. We can get normal tea houses in this place for night stay. It is one of the highest zones where trekkers feel headaches and discomfort. Taking garlic soup, enough drinking water and sleeping well can make you feel comfortable.
Gorakshep is the last settlement before reaching Everest base camp. It is the last stop with tea houses for night stay. It takes around two hours to reach EBC from Gorekshep. After returning from Gorakshep, the Gokyo Cho La pass trek diverts to Dzongla from Lobuche. Thagnak is the next settlement that passes through Cho La Pass.
Gokyo Lake Valley is the last destination of Gokyo Cho La Pass trek via Everest base camp. The amazing Gokyo lake, small Gokyo village and mind-blowing view of Mount Everest and its nearby peak are the major attractions in Gokyo valley.
We will trek thorough Machherma and Dole village to reach Namche from Gokyo. The descending trail continues to Phakding and reaches Lukla as the finishing point of this trekking. The entire trekking route to Base camp of Mount Everest, Cho La pass and Gokyo lake is adventurous and moderately challenging. Trek preparation is important for successful journey in the Everest region.
