Island Peak Climbing

Arrival day is the first day in Nepal. One of our company members will pick you up from the airport and drop you at the hotel. The trekking guide will meet you in the hotel and give a briefing about the trek. We will have dinner in the cultural restaurant.

We will wake up early in the morning and drive to airport for Lukla flight. Based on the season thw Lukla flight may occur either from Kathmandu or Ramechhap.

The air traffic increases in peak season (March, April, May, September, October and November) therefore, the flight occurs from Ramechap. We should wake up early (1: 00 am) in the morning, have packed breakfast and drive towards Ramechap. It takes around five hours to reach Manthali airport from Kathmandu.

After landing Lukla we will have some food and start our trekking to Phakding. The fist day of walking is just for a warmup so we will walk for around four hours and take rest.

Namche bazaar trek is amazing trek that passes through Hillary suspension bridge, Sagarmatha national park entry point and Monjo village. The uphill’s to Namche is relatively challenging than Lukla to Phakding trek. It takes around 6 hours to reach Namche. The overall distance from Phakding to Namche is around 10 km. We can enjoy the Sherpa culture and entertain the amazing town at 3440 m.

We will not go to next destination on this fourth day. It is our acclimatization day on which we will rest and let our body to adjust with the changing climatic condition and environment. After taking breakfast we will have short hike to Khumjung viewpoint for the first view of Mount Everest. The brilliant view of Thamserkhu, Amadablam, Cholache and many more peak of Mahalangur range worth it.

We will return to Namche for night stay.

After having breakfast in Namche bazaar, we will start our trekking to Tengboche. Trekking route to Tengboche includes easy trail with amazing view of mountains. We will explore the Tengboche monastery before reaching Tengobhe. It takes around 6 hours to reach Tengoboche from Namche. The approximate distance from Namche to Tengboche is around 12 km.

Trekking to Dingboche is moderately difficult. We will pass through Pangboche and Imja Valley to reach Dinboche. Since every step headed towards higher elevation, we should walk slowly, taking rests. The faster we walk, the higher will be the rate of altitude sickness. It takes around 6 hours to reach Dingboche from Tengboche.

We will stay in Dingboche for acclimatization and adjust to changing climatic conditions. We will hike to Nagarjuna peak to gain altitude and explore the mountains. After having breakfast, we will hike to the Nagarjuna peak and return to Dinboche to have lunch. After that we will take rest.

After having breakfast in Dingboche we will trek towards Thukla. After passing the steep ascent of Thukla pass we will reach Lobuche. Trekking distance from Dingboche to Lobuche is around 8 kilometers but it takes around 6 hours to complete the distance due to high altitude trek. We cannot walk fast in the route to Lobuche.

The trekking to Gorakshep is the last ascent to Everest base camp. After reaching Gorakshep we will have lunch and the final push to EBC begins. After two hours we will reach Everest base camp and explore around. Night stay will be in Gorekshep.

We will descend to Dingboche from Gorekshep following the same trekking route. It takes around eight hours to reach Dingboche from Gorekshep. Descending is relatively easy than ascending the mountains.

We will descend to Chhukung village, a gateway to Island peak base camp. It takes around three hours to reach Chhukung from Dingboche. We will gradually ascend through Imja Valley enjoying the great view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Island peak.

After having breakfast in Chhukung we will ascend to Island peak base camp. After reaching base camp we will meet our climbing guide and get the climbing equipment. The climbing guide will give training for peak climbing, and use of instruments.

Depending on weather conditions we will follow the climbing guide and start peak climbing in midnight. It takes around nine hours to be on Island peak summit and six hours to return the base camp. Overall, it takes 14 hours to complete Island peak climbing from Island peak base camp. After having some rest in base camp, we will descent to Chhukung and celebrate the success of peak climbing.

After having breakfast in Chhukung, we will descend to Tengboche. The downhills and lower elevation will make us feel comfortable. We will take a rest in Tengboche.

We will reach Namche and have our lunch. After that we will descend to Monjo for an overnight stay.

We will pass through Phakding and reach Lukla. It is the last day in Everest region. Trekkers can celebrate the evening by dancing and singing.

Depending on our flight time, we will reach the airport and fly back to Kathmandu.

Depending on the flight time, one of our company members will drop you at the airport. The Island Peak climbing will be complete with your departure from Nepal.
